Strategic Priorities

Western Sydney TAFE (WSI) developed its 2020 Strategic Directions in 2015. Taking an integrated approach, WSI linked every aspect of business planning, performance management, governance and reporting to the overall vision, mission and goals of the Institute.

Planning and research supporting the development of WSI’s Strategic Directions is extensive. An environmental scan was conducted by: researching employment and population profiles; reviewing VET policies and the VET landscape; analysing VET competitors; determining the service delivery of other RTOs; and establishing how best to support learners.

A dedicated internal working group was formed to drive the process and provide advice. Engagement with staff from across the Institute was sought to gain their input. This was done through a series of workshops and forums.

Staff can access a dedicated share-point site and view the progress of the Strategic Directions on the staff intranet. Planning is also driven by staff and faculty work and business plans supporting the Institute’s goals. This level of reporting provides tools for measuring success.

The central goals of the 2020 Strategic Directions encompass educational and service excellence; leading-edge and competitive products and services; connections with industry and the local community; and delivery of skills for the future.
