In July 2012 I was employed as a Marine Superintendent with Offshore Maritime Services Alliance (OMSA) on the Gorgon Oil and Gas Project in NW Australia.
With over 14 vessels and more than 100 crew on site it became immediately apparent that Work Health & Safety (WHS) management would be a major focus of the position.
I commenced a Cert IV in WHS in 2012 and even before completing late last year, as a result of what I learnt I was able to provide valuable input resulting in an overall improvement in the Company’s WHS performance on site. This ultimately culminated in an award for excellence in operations being presented by the Chevron site management.
Word of our success in OH&S has spread and I am now receiving regular approaches from other companies within the oil and gas sector to similarly assist them.
