After a long period at home caring for my children & then...

After a long period at home caring for my children & then going through a difficult divorce, I decided to reskill & move my life forward.

My course was meant to take 2 years.  OTEN encouraged me, supported me & gave me confidence.  The end result was I completed my course in 9 months.

Towards the end of my course, I floated my CV to my local Council.  In the end of October 2013, I was offered a position.  I am loving my job, & are receiving excellent feedback from my fellow staff members.

My girls & I now have financial stability, my confidence has grown & my whole world has improved.

I will always be grateful for choosing OTEN, & I am most excited for the future.  Thank you so very much.

Finishing OTEN helped me get my confidence up and helped me moved forward while other kids my age were still at school.

I’ve recently been signed with a modelling agency in Sydney and am about to start University a year early.

OTEN was great with the way the structure was planned out. I could work at my own pace and I got to do a lot of other activities during school hours.

Don't give up trying!

After school I completed my Certificate II in Business Administrations at my local TAFE campus. After finishing I was unable to continue with my studies on campus any further. I worked for a couple of years and then one day I stumbled across OTEN online. I worked through my certificates and in 2012 I felt great happiness when I finished my Diploma in Business Administrations. It was so useful to be able to study via distance because it meant that I was able to maintain a full time job and study in my own time at my own pace. I had a few different jobs but it wasn’t until I completed my Diploma that I was able to get a great administrative role working in a not for profit organisation that assists Refugees and Asylum Seekers. I used my knowledge to organise events, work in finance and provide other administrative services. I was always well supported by my teacher, felt motivated to complete it and learned a lot along the way! Completing my Diploma was great achievement, I felt so inspired that soon I will be completing my Community Services Diploma, also through OTEN.

Pursuing a career in accounting with 2 young kids and no...

Pursuing a career in accounting with 2 young kids and no knowledge of Australian accounting system was merely a dream for a foreign qualified, newly arrived immigrant. While all doors of opportunity were apparently closed, OTEN appeared as a ray of hope in dark. Can I gain knowledge of Australian systems without leaving my 3 months old baby anywhere?? This was the biggest incentive for me and I started seeing light on the other side of the tunnel. So I enrolled and get set go….

The journey was amazing, but had a few ups and downs too. Even then I managed to complete my Diploma in Accounting in 1 year and 8 months, and that was the beauty of flexible learning, “go with your pace”. It could not have been possible without the amazing staff at OTEN, both teaching and administrative who was always there to help and support me. The key element was determination and regularity.

Now, I have got the job I wanted as I am equipped with the knowledge required to be in the market. Thanks to OTEN for providing me with the opportunity for grooming my knowledge and skills.

Studying with OTEN has been such a great experience, I completed...

Studying with OTEN has been such a great experience, I completed my Business Certificate II and Children’s Services III (just need to complete the work experience). I cannot thank OTEN enough for having such a great flexible learning system, as I am a young mother of two. I wasn’t able to complete my education in school or TAFE. As I was completing my assignments I was also taking care of my children.

I enrolled in Children services III on the of 21 st October 2013 and I am so proud of what I have achieved. I done the online tests and received high marks 75%-100%. Which I was very happy about, I am impressed. As both of my boys attend Childcare three days a week, I was on studying atleast 2 hours or other days I was working.

Thank you so much guys, I am going to further my studies and now I have inspired my partner to finish his HSC through OTEN! I want people to know even though you have Children young as I was 16 when I had Kristian (36months) and Ryder(24Months).

Anything is achievable !!!

Kind regards,

Angel

Hi, my name is  Ndaya Dinatus (Lilian)  ex-student of Oten. I graduated from Oten with cert.IV in Community Services. My studies with Oten  has been a great achievement for me.

I am from a non-English speaking background. Through Oten i am able to speak English, connect and get involve in my community thanks to my humble  English teacher Emily Werlemann who thought me the English which helped me  to be able to do my assignments and all the units successfully.

My studies with Oten has helped me gained employment as a Disability Support Worker(DSW)   I initiated a community garden where my clients are able to do some work as part of exercise for those who can use their hands.  The garden is opened for everyone.  There are people who have been volunteering in this garden and doing a great job.

I am deeply thank you Öten and all the teachers especially Beth Evans who went through all my assignments making sure  i get all things right.

You guys are fabulous.

Hi there, if you are looking  for a good  place to study, Oten is the best.

Bravo

Having spent 20+ years working in an office I was totally over...

Having spent 20+ years working in an office I was totally over it. I packed up my life and went traveling for several years. When I returned I relocated to a regional area. I soon realised that the only skills I had were office based. Having vowed never to work in an office again I sought training opportunities through OTEN. I undertook Cert IV in Disability. I am now employed as a disability support trainer and work with the most amazing people, supporting them in the community and motivating them to do things they never thought possible. I love my job as I love seeing the people I work with burst with excitement. They are the light in my life.

The photo is of me and my client prior to participating in my clients first ever fun run. We trained for several weeks leading up to this event, which was the highlight of his year. He plans to do more in the future

During my Media and Communications course I was able to tailor my assignments to complement my work as a supervisor for a face to face marketing company.

For my Plan, Initiate and Implement a Project assessment I came up with the idea for a recipe portal for our company which was actually implemented.

The Create Complex Workplace Texts assessment I created a coaching program for our 1400 in store demonstrators which has been embraced and is being used as part of a bigger training module.

Since completing my course I have been promoted from State Supervisor to National Communications and Training Coordinator.

Thank you OTEN for enhancing my career!

I Recently completed a Diploma of Water Operations living in South Australia through OTEN. Once I was enrolled I received constant support from the teaching team, and found the use of a number of learning mediums such as Facebook and tumblr beneficial. The knowledge and skills I have gained through the diploma made it possible to advance my career as a Hydrographer, monitoring water in the driest state of the driest country on the planet. By completing the diploma I was able to get a re-classification in my role and finish my cadetship with my employer. This has given me the opportunity to travel around the state to conduct water monitoring at places including the Eyre Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Lake Eyre, and the Coorong. I get paid to do work I enjoy, and get to travel and see the state! I also operate a network of water monitoring sites in the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower Lakes and Coorong. The data I collect underpins the decision making and science behind water allocation planning and River Murray Operations. Completing the Diploma of Water Operations has opened up numerous opportunities to advance my career.

My name is Arnold Bautista, I came from the Philippines and...

My name is Arnold Bautista, I came from the Philippines and migrated here in Australia in 2006. I finish with the Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering in overseas. When I came here I want to pursue engineering course, but I notice that an Electrician Course is also a promising career.

I started to work in a can making industry as an Electrical Trades Assistant in November 2006 . Enrolled in TAFE Granville 2007 in Electrotechnology Systems Electrician 6077 and finished it in 2009 . I apply for a Certificate of Proficiency in the same year at VTT and eventually almost 5 months after they informed me that I lack the domestic experience as this is one of the requirements to get the certificate and they put on hold on my application until I met the requirements. I am a bit discouraged of the results, because I don’t want to leave my current employer. But fortunately someone has offered me to work with him in a domestic/residential every Saturday and sometimes during the week from 2009 to 2013 for me to have that domestic experience without leaving my current employer.

As I finished my experience with him in 2013,   after 4 years I went back to VTT to submit the needed documents for my domestics experience and fortunately they approved my application and grant me that Certificate of Proficiency. After that I apply for Electricians License in Fair Trading. Again, because it took me 10 years since I enrolled in TAFE in 2006 to 2013, requirements for electricians license change, Fair Trading requires me to take the ANZ Wiring Rules 2007 Assessment even though we used ANZ Wiring Rules 2007 during my TAFE course in Granville.

Eventually Fair Trading wants me to have this Assessment 27213 to be taken in TAFE OTEN and put a hold on my application for license.  I am thankful for the support of the teachers specially Paul Frew in TAFE OTEN and also for the online studying it really helps me refresh my knowledge in ANZ Wirin
