This qualification reflects the roles of individuals who apply substantial specialised skills and knowledge in the field of adult language, literacy and numeracy practice. In these roles they make significant high level judgements to analyse, plan, deliver and evaluate specialised teaching functions within complex contexts.

Adult language, literacy and numeracy skills development is provided by a range of training organisations in vocational education settings, workplaces and the community. Titles for job roles with responsibility for adult language, literacy and numeracy delivery and assessment vary across different organisational contexts. Possible job titles include:
- practitioner, Workplace English Language and Literacy (WELL) program
- teacher, Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP)
- concurrent assistance teacher, training organisation
- adult literacy and numeracy teacher, training organisation
- trainer and assessor, training organisation
- program coordinator, adult community education organisation

This qualification may not meet the requirements for TESOL teaching. It is advisable to check with relevant jurisdictions and in the human resource statements in accredited course documentation.

The volume of learning of a Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice is typically one to two years.

Graduate Diploma in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice Application Form

This course is a specialist teacher-training qualification for people who have
* experience in the VET context
* a working knowledge of the ACSF (Australian Core Skills Framework)
* ACSF skills at level 5 in reading, writing, learning, and oral communication, and ACSF 4 in numeracy
* regular access to a group of adult learners who need assistance with language, literacy and numeracy in a formal education environment.

Whilst there are no formal entry requirment- recommended entry pathways include:
* Bachelor degree or other higher education qualification, plus relevant vocational experience or
* relevant Diploma or Advanced Diploma, plus relevant vocational experience or
* relevant Certificate IV, plus significant relevant vocational practice.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.
