**INDUSTRY DEMAND**

The United Nations has declared this to be the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. Land degradation is negatively impacting at least 3.2 billion people and significant loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

To complete this course you need have access to bushland sites in your local area in order to complete the required practical aspects for most course units. You can achieve this by being employed in the industry, or by volunteering with a local landcare or bushcare group, or other similar volunteer group (eg: national parks) in your area.

To be eligible for this course, you must:

- Be physically fit to manage outdoor work and field trips
- Have transport to travel to approved sites to complete assessment tasks

To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

- Passion for contributing to a sustainable world
- Understanding of the natural environment
- Some knowledge of biological processes
- Qualifications or experience in either Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management will give you a great advantage
- Drivers licence and access to a vehicle

**LICENSING REQUIREMENTS**

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification.

Are there any additional entry requirements?

A number of courses may require prospective students to provide additional information such as documentation, an expression of interest, evidence that you are already employed as an apprentice, or preferred prior study (or equivalent).

Certificate level courses in this discipline are for students who want to “do”.
- Students need access to a suitable bushland site to undertake the assessments for this course. This can be achieved either by working in the industry or by volunteering in a council Bush care or Landcare group.
- Students will need to be self-directed and should have good computer skills, research skills and writing skills. It would also be an advantage if the student has some direct CLM industry experience.
- Students will need regular, and reliable, access to a computer with internet access as well as a valid e-mail address.

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

Smart and Skilled Student Fees

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.

Trainees: From 2016 if you are starting a traineeship that is on the NSW Skills List, your Smart and Skilled fee for the whole qualification will not be more than $1,000.

This training is subsidised by the NSW government under Smart and Skilled. The student fee you will need to pay, will be determined according to your personal circumstances and eligibility for a subsidised place, you may also be eligible for a concession fee, fee exemption or fee free scholarship. Payment by instalments is available.

You may continue with an enrolment into this course if you are not eligible for subsidised training, however the full training fee will be applicable. There are conditions to enrolment if you are a Temporary Visa Holder. To discuss your visa status and eligibility to enrol please phone 131 241.
