In this one day course you will learn basic firefighting skills and undertake
firefighting operations within a "hot fire cell" training facility located at

You will learn how to wear breathing apparatus and undertake search and rescue
within a "hot fire cell"; as well as extinguish gas and flammable liquid fires.

This course is suitable if you are:
- interested in firefighting as a career;
- a firefighter and wish to practice your skills;
- working in the building industry;
- a fire or safety consultant and wish to experience the hazards
and risks of fire.

This course will be offered monthly between Monday and Saturday from 9.30am to
3.00pm. A minimum of 10 candidates are required at a cost of $350.00/person.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age and of reasonable fitness.
Firefighting protective clothing and equipment is provided on the day but you
should wear suitable cotton based work clothing and work boots. You will need to
bring lunch as there are not many suitable food outlets nearby.

This course is not accredited national training, however you will receive a TAFE
NSW attendance certificate.

The practical days are usually offered monthly depending on whether there are sufficient participants. Participants will require a reasonable level of fitness.

If during or after your enrolment, the course in which you are enrolled is updated in line with national industry standards, the Institute reserves the right to transition you into an alternate course. If this becomes necessary, the Institute will advise you of the change and the arrangements which will be available for you to complete your alternate course.

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

You don't need to study what you already know! The skills, knowledge and experience you have gained from your previous learning, work experience and life in general may be taken into account.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

There are no subsidies for this course, it is offered for enrolment under a fee-for-service. There are no concessions, exemptions or scholarships available. Payment by instalments is available.
