Introduction to WHS
If you are looking to commence a career in the work, health and safety (WHS) area or you already have experience without qualifications in WHS, the Statement of Attainment in Introduction to WHS can lead to career opportunities and further studies in the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety can lead to a range of career opportunities including Work Health and Safety (WHS) Systems Officer, Work Health and Safety Coordinator and Safety Health and Wellbeing Advisor.
The course covers a range of units of competency and provides a basic understanding of WHS laws and evidence of compliance.

It is recommended you complete this introductory Statement of Attainment before enrolling in 357-R7015 - Statement of Attainment in WHS System Fundamentals.

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS402 Assist with compliance with WHS laws
BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control

You don't need to study what you already know! The skills, knowledge and experience you have gained from your previous learning, work experience and life in general may be taken into account.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

To complete this qualification you will need a computer, or regular access to an IBM compatible computer with up to date virus protection and:
• access to broadband internet connection (preferable) or dialup internet
• email access which will be used for subject and course notices
• Microsoft Office 2010 or later
• a printer
• access to video and photographic equipment (such as an iPhone)
Apple Mac computers can be used as long as the computer can run Windows software.
You will need to buy textbooks. Some units require textbooks and these may range from $50-$100+ each.

The cost of this course will vary based on your eligibility for a Smart and Skilled Student Fee. Eligibility criteria can be found on the Smart and Skilled website or you can call us on 131 601 for further information and advice.

Trainees: From 2016 if you are starting a traineeship that is on the NSW Skills List, your Smart and Skilled fee for the whole qualification will not be more than $1,000.

This training is subsidised by the NSW government under Smart and Skilled. The student fee you will need to pay, will be determined according to your personal circumstances and eligibility for a subsidised place, you may also be eligible for a concession fee, fee exemption or fee free scholarship. Payment by instalments is available.

You may continue with an enrolment into this course if you are not eligible for subsidised training, however the full training fee will be applicable. There are conditions to enrolment if you are a Temporary Visa Holder. To discuss your visa status and eligibility to enrol please phone 131 601.
