The Certificate IV in Public Safety (Firefighting Supervision) covers leadership and supervisory functions. The risks associated with firefighting operations have required the adoption of a number of pre-requisite units of competency to key operational industry wide competencies.

To ensure operational safety is maintained by fire sector workers they must be assessed as competent in all fire specific pre-requisites and assessed in the following units within a fire context for the purposes of obtaining fire qualifications.

Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake vocational education and training at this qualification level, such as:

- after achieving the PUA30613 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations)
- after achieving the PUA30713 Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting Operations)

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

Students may need access to fire agency policies, organisational procedures and operational guidelines.
TAFE Digital provides learning materials for many of the units, however students may need to purchase additional materials to complete the course.
Students are required to complete 11 units (3 core or compulsory units, and 8 electives) to attain the qualification. Students may only choose 8 electives. Please refer to the study pathway for more information.

There are no subsidies for this course, it is offered for enrolment under a fee-for-service. There are no concessions, exemptions or scholarships available. Payment by instalments is available.
