Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality, events, holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.

Licensing/Regulatory Information
Certification requirements apply at a state and territory level to individuals involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licenced premises. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITHFAB002 Provide responsible service of alcohol.

Responsible service of alcohol (RSA) legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Those developing training to support the RSA unit must consult the relevant state or territory liquor licensing authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors.

This is an online course. You will need to complete approximately four hours of online study, each week of your enrolment duration.
You can increase the hours of online study per week to complete the course sooner.

You can also expect to complete approximately one hour of additional study outside of class hours, including independent study, research, practice and assignments.

- When you complete the course, you will be provided with an Interim Certificate that allows you to work for the first 90 days while you order and receive your Photo Competency Card.
- Take your Interim Certificate with you to a Service NSW Service Centre, as well as 100 points of ID that are all originals.
- Your personal details on your Interim Certificate must match your ID – any discrepancies can be fixed at Service NSW.
- Your photo will be taken and you should receive your NSW Photo Competency Card in four weeks.

If during or after your enrolment, the course in which you are enrolled is updated in line with national industry standards, the Institute reserves the right to transition you into an alternate course. If this becomes necessary, the Institute will advise you of the change and the arrangements which will be available for you to complete your alternate course.

Are there any additional entry requirements?

A number of courses may require prospective students to provide additional information such as documentation, an expression of interest, evidence that you are already employed as an apprentice, or preferred prior study (or equivalent).

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:
- do NOT hold a current RSA Photo Competency Card or hold a card that has expired LESS than 28 days

To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- access to a computer, printer, software programs and Internet to access the TAFE Digital platform

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

This skill set is for personnel involved in the sale, service, and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. It also applies to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for managing the responsible service of alcohol.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

Students need to complete two assessments one of which is a roleplay which can be completed with a teacher via skype or submitted as a video.
