The Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation is a Year 12 equivalent qualification with an emphasis on skill-based learning as well as discipline-specific content.

It is a recognised tertiary entry qualification by the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC), NSW universities and some interstate universities.

In addition, for Western Sydney University applicants, TPC graduates gaining TES scores of 168 out of 300 or above have guaranteed entry into many bachelor degree programs. This course is delivered entirely online, you will need to allocate at least 20 hours per week study time to successfully complete and pass all of the units.
The Tertiary Preparation Certificate does have exams which are held in April and June 2019 and you must be available to attend in person at a TAFE College in NSW to sit these exams.

You don't need to study what you already know! The skills, knowledge and experience you have gained from your previous learning, work experience and life in general may be taken into account.

To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

TAFE managed government subsidised course

To be eligible for the TAFE NSW fee below you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent Australian resident, a humanitarian visa holder or a New Zealand citizen; be aged 15 years or older, live or work in New South Wales, no longer be at school or equivalent. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who do not live or work in New South Wales but live in specific defined interstate NSW border areas are eligible for government-subsidised training.
