This is an online course. You will need to complete approximately 7 hours of online study, over a week, for your enrolment duration of 18 months.
You can increase the hours of online study per week to complete the course sooner.

You can also expect to complete approximately 10 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including independent study, research, practice and assignments preparation including covering of practical tasks in real work or simulated workshops.

A number of courses may require prospective students to provide additional information such as documentation, an expression of interest, evidence that you are already employed as an apprentice, or preferred prior study (or equivalent).

To successfully complete this course, you will need:
- access to computer and a reliable Internet connection, to be able to complete your course work online via student Online Learning Support system (OLS)

Work Placement is a requirement of this couse. You will need to complete:
- several units of this course will require you to complete the practical tasks either in a real workplace or in a practical workshop organised by Tafe Digital.

The procurement of work placement & other work placement resources and information, remains the responsibility of the student. However, you may also have an option to attend a one day practical workshop, in order to cover the clinical requirements of the course units. Please contact the Teaching Section for more information on Tafe Digital workshops.

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

There are few units in this qualification that will require the completion of practical tasks either in a real workplace or in a practical workshop. The procurement of work placement and other work placement resources and information, remains the responsibility of the student.
You may also be required to attend a one-day practical workshop in order to cover the practical requirements of the course units.
The following two units specifically require the completion of work place assessment task(s) in a relevant real work place setting :

• HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety: Skills must be demonstrated in the workplace.

In addition, simulations and scenarios must be used where the full range of contexts and situations cannot be provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely. These are situations relating to emergency or unplanned procedures where assessment in these circumstances would be unsafe or is impractical.

• HLTINF003( OPTIONAL elective unit)-Implement and monitor infection prevention and control policies and procedures
Skills must have been demonstrated in the workplace with the addition of simulations and scenarios where the full range of contexts and situations have not been provided in the workplace or may occur only rarely.

The following conditions must be met for this unit:
?use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including:
?organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures
?personal protective equipment
?hand washing facilities and equipment
?medical or client care equipment relevant to the workplace
?clinical and other waste
?areas for cleaning
?modelling of industry operating conditions, including:
?interaction with a team
?presence of real or simulated risks, hazards and infection prevention and control problems to which the candidate responds
You will need to ensure that whatever facility you organise for completing the practical requirements of this course, there is an appropriate qualified work place Supervisor available to assist you and signoff on the completed practical tasks. To apply for recognition in one or more units you must clearly show that you have the equivalent and relevant skills, knowledge and experience of the unit or group of units.

For Credit transfer where you have completed previous studies either with TAFE NSW or with another tertiary provider complete the Enrolment Adjustment - Credit - Previous Studies form, and include any required evidence.

For Recognition of Prior Learning, attach your evidence to a completed Enrolment Adjustment – Credit – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) form and submit for assessment.

Smart and Skilled Student Fees

Trainees: From 2016 if you are starting a traineeship that is on the NSW Skills List, your Smart and Skilled fee for the whole qualification will not be more than $1,000.

This training is subsidised by the NSW government under Smart and Skilled. The student fee you will need to pay, will be determined according to your personal circumstances and eligibility for a subsidised place, you may also be eligible for a concession fee, fee exemption or fee free scholarship. Payment by instalments is available.

You may continue with an enrolment into this course if you are not eligible for subsidised training, however the full training fee will be applicable.
