TAFE NSW offers a number of degree level courses and higher education options with strong industry links and both practical skills and theoretical knowledge.
OTEN is offering the first online degree for TAFE NSW Higher Education from Semester 2 2017.
The Bachelor of Community Services is a three year full-time qualification (part-time available), that will equip you with the practical skills as well as the theory required to pursue a career in the community services industry.
This online degree is a dynamic hands-on course which will prepare you for practice-based role in both government and non-government agencies, where you can make your mark supporting the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities, as well as being an agent of social change. You can choose electives to focus on areas of specialisation including working with families at risk, Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander studies, settlement work and disability services.
You will complete 400 hours supervised work placement across two community service organisations to enable you to develop real industry skills and experiences which will maximise your employability on completion of the course.
Credit equivalent to the first year of study may be granted to students who have completed a Diploma of Community Services with evidence of a minimum of 200 hours work placement.
Please note: The Bachelor of Community Services is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). Graduates are not eligible to register with the Australian Association of Social Workers on the basis of this qualification alone. The Bachelor of Community Services is not an Australian Community Workers Association accredited course.
