We have created a Facebook group http://ow.ly/lGdqX for OTEN students that would like to receive notifications about any Outages or problems with the OLS through facebook, in future we may not post Outage notifications through our main OTEN facebook page. The advantage of receiving notifications through a group is that everyone that joins the group will receive the notification, unlike a page.

OLS System Maintenance - Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2013
Saturday 15th 6am until 10pm – resources in some courses may be unavailable on the day.
Sunday 16th 6am until 6pm - The OLS and OTEN internet sites may operate at reduced capacity or be unavailable on the day.
TAFE NSW does upgrades and system maintenance and while we get notifications of these, the weekend is often the time they choose, due to less traffic. However, Saturday or Sunday may be when you like to work or when you’ve organised someone to look after the kids to give you some quiet time to study….potentially frustrating!
By a little bit of planning we can overcome these potential frustrations, so here are some suggestions…
1. Download as much information/assessment as you can onto your computer a few days before any scheduled system maintenance. (It’s probably a good idea to do this anyway.)
2. Make sure you have work to go on with so you’re prepared and you’re not relying on uninterrupted access to online course material.
3. Don’t try to submit any online assessments during the system outage, submit work after the OLS is up and running.
4. Please Note: Once the system is up and running again – if you are still experiencing problems then be mindful that it could be at your end. For example, you may have troubles getting or staying on the web – maybe your wireless internet connection has a tendency to drop out, or other reasons beyond our control.

TAFE NSW has introduced a new policy regarding access to Government Subsidised Training in TAFE NSW ( https://www.det.nsw.edu.au/policies/student_admin/enrolment/training/PD20130438.shtml?level=TAFE ).
Enrolment into a TAFE NSW government subsidised course is now only available to NSW residents, eligible trainees, apprentices and people working within NSW.
If you live outside of NSW OTEN can still offer you enrolment into many TAFE NSW courses through VET FEE-HELP or under a fee for service arrangement. Please see our website for more information.
